RESEARCH

It is very important that we research the possibilities and limitations of augmented reality and how it is being used. In my research essay I introduced what augmented reality was and how it is being used with other technologies like for example Snapchat has recently used augmented reality.

After writing down in bullet points how our research essay should have such a short amount of information about augmented reality it made me feel that this project was very simple to do and I felt less stressed then I did whilst doing the advert project. It allowed me to get more of a idea for my own poster if I wasn’t to research I don’t think I would have gotten a very creative point of view for the poster.

Research involved what augmented reality was, with a few quotes I found off the web, the many different types of augmented reality technologies that can be found also with information about Layar, pros and cons with how much its helped a lot more in schools across the world for education and how augmented reality has had such a huge impact on society.
PRE PRODUCTION

Might I say there wasn’t much pre-production for this project only because we were only using our advert from our first project which made it just the case of making the poster with use of just taking a few photos with the product in the studio with the help of kit that was given to me for this project that I am thankful for.

In pre-production you would need the appropriate techniques and skills but this wasn’t really needed for this type of project since it was just a poster to make online and add your already made advert, it would be very different if we were to have made a new advert for this project because that would actually need all of those techniques just like in the first project.
THE MAKING OF THE AUGMENTED POSTER

When Julian went through how to make the poster with an example picture he took from the internet with my advert I got the idea of using my own picture and not just simply taking it from the web. I then decided to take my headphones and with the use of my peers go into the studio and set it up the way I had it for my advert. It took a while to figure out what pose I should have the peer do so I took multiple pictures of multiple poses to then bring up on my computer and choose one for my actual AR poster.

After picking one poster background to use I then edited it slightly to make the lighting look a bit better and then I added a few logos for beats but making sure I left room to put the video clip, as you’ll see in the how to guide how I put the video clip onto the poster.

The last thing I had to do was test the poster with the video which I used Layar when finishing up my poster. I used my phone to scan the poster that was on the computer screen and it came to life which was amazing to see my work come out from a poster that actually looks like it would be found in a magazine or anywhere which is what I was trying to achieve so I am happy about that.
THE OUTCOME OF THIS PROJECT/IMPROVEMENTS

When we were given this project I felt like I would struggle a lot since I did on my last project but then when we were explained more on how to do the poster and how much of the tasks we had to do I felt it was very simple which made me feel relieved.

I enjoyed using my own advert video for this project because it was my very own poster and that I didn’t have to go through making another advert that I would probably not have a idea about what to do it for so I had a good simple Idea to make the picture with the headphones but make it not look the same as my advert that much. I don’t real enjoy Photoshop that much because I’m not a ultimate pro at it yet but I found it very easy adding logos and the picture of my advert onto the poster and then transferring it to Layer.

Next time I will be a little more creative and make sure it stands out more as a professional poster then just a basic one. But for being a first ever augmented reality poster I think I did a pretty good job on it, it was pretty cool seeing the poster come to life on my little phone screen its crazy what technology can do these days.
