Professional Practice

My Roles and Responsibilities.

On November 23rd 2017, we watched a video clip on the many camera angles, movements and shots that there is to try to remember and use often in the making of ours many videos we will and have already made for this course and for the fun of it in my words. We were put into groups of three to go out and shoot our lists of camera angles, movements and shots. Whilst watching the video in our college I decided to write out the list on my phone so it was easy to remember what each of them were called and what they actually are. Id say we should have given each person a type of job to do but we kind of just made each of us make sure to at least use the camera a couple times.

I did find it a struggle because I felt most of the camera angles were the same so I felt we were repeating a lot of shots which you can tell in the video you can see we recorded maybe two of the same shot but in different locations.

I'm usually a big fan of group work but I felt we didn't really organize it well with the sharing of who takes what shots it all just ended up being most of me when i would try to include the others they would not know what to do.

It took me a whole day to edit since we filmed the day before I didn’t have time to edit on that day, editing went smoothly, I did find it hard to find a certain song to go with for the video but soon found one that had not a fast beat but a slow motion feeling to it so people can focus on the camera angles but also enjoy watching the 3 minute video.

What I wish I could have done better is research into more detail on the camera angles, movements and shots because I ended up repeating a couple. But in the end I was very pleased with how it turned out.

Everyday epics was a task we were given by julian in groups, we chose a certain daily doing thing thats boring and make it epic. I feel this was a very stressful group efort video since we had to do this during our 3 hour break on thursday people in our group didnt wanna use their time on our video.

We also didn’t organise our shots well enough to know what we were doing. Our group gave up and finished up work on our other project until we suddenly thought of an idea which we shot in under 2 hours and edited.

I wished it would have been shared between the group of who takes what shots since most were taken by one person who was in the video as well. The video came out pretty good with the songs and sound effects i feel some filters could have not been used as some people looked orange. I was only responsible for the use of my car for the video so basically getting the props for the filming.

I tried being responsible for making sure we wrote down our location, what shots to take but once we got outside one of our peers got frustrated but that was okay we soon got there in the end.

When we got to the location we had a accident where one of our classmates ran and fell into the sinking mud, which that meant our star of the video was out.

The only other person that was okay with being in front of the camera was me, so I filled in the spot we got some shots, messed up on a few but we got there in the end even if it was really cold and we were slowly giving up but i pushed us all through being positive that even though we had one person probably dying of frostbite covered in mud in my car we got the shots we wanted.

We soon drove back to college to start editing our video with the help of our tutor Julian. He seemed to really like most of our shots and how it connected well to the original Coldplay video. Seeing Julian really enjoy our video made me feel a little more happy about how our experience filming went. The role I would say I played for this video was half director half actor.

Even though we had some troubles during our trip we didn't successfully finish the task making sure itmet all the goals set for this task.
